KGMU Hosts Research Showcase 2025 Highlighting Excellence in Biomedical Innovation

Lucknow | King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, organised Research Showcase 2025 on Saturday at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre, celebrating excellence and innovation in biomedical research across disciplines.

The event was graced by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, Padma Shri and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize awardee, and Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Sood delivered the prestigious Prof. Devendra Gupta Oration on the theme “Innovations in Medical Science: Strategic Roadmap for Healthy India”, offering insights into India’s evolving science, technology and innovation landscape.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Soniya Nityanand welcomed the gathering and encouraged faculty members, researchers and students to continue pursuing impactful research. Prof. Hardeep Singh Malhotra, Dean (Research), presented the annual research report and outlined KGMU’s future vision, while Prof. Virendra Atam, Dean (Academics), formally introduced the Chief Guest.

A major attraction of the showcase was an extensive display of e-posters highlighting peer-reviewed publications and ongoing research by KGMU faculty and students. The research spanned clinical medicine, public health, basic sciences and translational research.

The event also featured the presentation of multiple research awards recognising excellence and innovation. Dr. Dharmendra Kumar from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery received the Prof. Dhavendra Kumar Young Investigator Gold Medal. Dr. Anil Kumar was awarded for the best PhD thesis, while  Mehul Saxena, an MBBS student from the 2021 batch, was named Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher.

Several faculty members were felicitated for ranking among the world’s top two per cent scientists, along with awardees for best publications across clinical, para-clinical, dental, nursing and superspeciality categories. More than 96 faculty members and students received certificates for Eminence in Research and appreciation for notable academic achievements, including high-impact publications, patents and fellowships.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sujit Kumar Kar, Vice Dean (Ethics). The event was coordinated by Dr. Neeraj Kumar and Dr. Pragya Pandey.

The Research Showcase reaffirmed KGMU’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture and strengthening its role as a leading centre for medical education and innovation in India.
